Zender bodykitted Mk1 3 door

I came across these pics on FB. The Zender body kit would have been pimp back in the day, and look at all that colour coding! I believe the car is in Rotorua? Does anyone know anything about it?

If anyone has legit interest I'm keen to go have a look at it, only a few hours from hamilton,

Its dereg

Pretty rusty but could be saved.

Interior is in bits, wires hanging out everywhere due to electrical fault (reason it was taken off the road and parked).

I can view any weekend but only if some one will put that kit on a car, not in storage.

Is the car a GTI? If so is it a 1.6 or a 1.8? Do you what the number plate was?

Its looks to be a 1981 GTI. Its seems that 81's have the red stripe around the cluster. Id also say its NZ new since the speedo is in kms.
It looks like it would be a massive project if its saveable.

From the engine layout (radiator hose) and year it's an EG engine (1.6).

Would love the kit but the rest is too big a job for me..... I've already rebuilding one (and that's enough)

It also looks like the front centre section of the bodykit is missing as well.

Yea it is missing, I asked the guy. Kinda defeats the purpose if you were wanting to run the kit. Would be hard/expensive to find a replacement or get one made to suit. Thought about running the fender flares with the normal GTI duckbill but the flares flow into the front spoiler so wouldn't really work.
