Yep that's a broken cable from inside the seat. The one that lets the seat fold forward. I wonder sometimes if this car is actively fighting me.

I think you'll find that switch is leaking between the plastic and its housing, just replace it.... they are cheap.

Thank you so much to John Stone for sending me these. The manual was a huge unexpected bonus and I'm really grateful for it.

WoF re-test called off due to intermittent speedo.
Also I need to fix the stalling at idle.

Is it the speed sensor causing your troubles with the speedo?

Or stupid enough! :D

Is it the speed sensor causing your troubles with the speedo?

The sensor tests fine, and signal wire has continuity to the dash so I'm thinking it's one of the other two wires which appear to be a switched live and earth. Will wire new ones and see if it cures it.

Today's other news:
It's time for the long awaited clean! Dropped Rusty off today at Finer Details NZ. Imagine how good it'll look after several days of attention from a pro detailer, plus a ceramic coating. So excited to see the results!

I just realised when I pick it up I can get the pinstripes on and the rear badges. And the door rings.

Hello Rob

I am a friend of Danny and Zac and admire your car everytime it turns up at the Kohls.

Your persistence will pay off and you certainly inspired me.

I am keen on quattros ever since meeting Walter Roerhl back in Germany in the 80's and watching the rally circuit in those days.

Its my dream car as well and I finally bit the bullet and now there is another car in your neighbourhood.

The detailing has begun!

Test fitting the rings and pinstripes. This is after one of three stages of polishing, and the phone pic really doesn't do it justice. Finer Details NZ are doing an amazing job.

Some from my real camera.
I am so excited about how good this looks, and there's three more stages of polish and coating still to go.
Finer Details NZ are detailing wizards
