Lurking in the dark...

After driving about 60km I stopped at some lights... "What's that smell? Hot brakes? Is that me?" Yep. Rear brake binding. Something I've done I'm sure!

Oh yeah Wolfgang was telling me he overheard an argument at one of the meets between two blokes about which one of our quattros was real and which was fake.

Good luck working it out, guys :D :D :D

Yeah this isn't right! Not sure what I did here but I've taken the caliper off and re-fitted it, making sure everything is tightened as it should be. Haven't test driven yet.

That's some "interesting" wear on the disc.
Was the pad sitting out of place or something else?

The thing I think of here Rob is that your pins are worn and/or binding a bit. Dont have to be out by much to make the pad not sit parallel.

RobClubley

The pad must be out of place. It still seems to be the same after a drive but isn't binding now. Will take it off again and check/re-grease the pins.

Started following this guide http://audifans.com/mirror/www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/wiring/Typ85/mac01pin.html
to diagnose the rev limit at 4500rpm. The inlet air temp sensor wasn't so good! It has been fixed before by someone even worse at soldering than me. I melted the solder off and switched to crimps as suggested in the guide. The car definitely feels a bit better and I accelerated up to 6500 in second. I wasn't in a suitable place to go any faster!

Installed at last! I spent ages trying to get the pressure accumulator out using an oil filter wrench and breaker bar but couldn't get a grip. So I asked the internet nicely via Neighbourly and a total stranger lent me his big grips for 15 minutes. Job done! Also it took ages yesterday to locate a turkey baster to drain the fluid before installing.

Audi do

The stance looks a lot better since you did the work to the rear springs.
