Cleaned up as best I can and re-assembled. At least all of the loose oily rust is gone.
Hoping to get the head on tomorrow.

Started bolting things to the head. Hoping it can all be lifted into place in one piece.

Looking good.
Where does the brake booster live on the ur?.

RobClubley

It's a weird system that uses the power steering pump and a brake pressure accumulator vessel to provide brake assist, instead of a vacuum booster.

Ok, might have to remote mount the brake booster in mine, wastegate will interfere with it methinks.

Looks great what you have done.
Hopefully you be up and going for this weekend.
It looks like there will be a good number of VW, Porsche and Audi going to the British and Euro car day in Upper Hutt.

I'd love to have it ready but I seem to be missing some gaskets for the turbo oil feed and return. One was discontinued by Audi in 2006! I can't remember if it had them when I took it off, but I can't find them to re-use!! So it's looking unlikely.

Otherwise I'm doing bits and pieces each night. It's like a very oily and expensive puzzle kit.

To hazard a guess they should be the same as used on the AAN k24 7000 and others but I have not checked your application.

These are for AAN URS4

Ooo they look promising, thanks.

Haven't had much time on the car this week. Got a couple of bits bolted back on. In the meantime here are some pics of the mess that Just Rust found when they started cutting into my boot floor three years ago.

Rebuilding my car half an hour at a time. Exhaust and downpipe are back on.

Not sure how I ended up with different length studs on the wastegate. But they do the job :)

Yay this one fits. All the way from Spain.

Now if only the damn pipe would go on with the turbo in place!! Won't quite go over the studs. Need to disconnect the other end but it's a total pig to get to the bolts.

Finding TDC. Got the bottom end right but top I'm not so sure about. Have requested help from Pete, who knows a lot more than me.

I think it's all good now. I got the flywheel at TDC then we lined up the camshaft. The mark on the back of the pulley isn't great and it's not clear exactly what to line it up with. Got the cambelt on and fully turned the engine about 4 times with no issues. Then Pete put the distrubutor on.

Hands deep inside the engine getting to awkward places.

Won't start though now after two successful starts - turns over but won't fire. Have run out of time to work on it now :(
