Called for a quick look and saw lots of hammering and smoke and welding going on in my car's boot.

They showed me this and said the rear of my Audi has the worst damage repairs they've ever seen. Multiple bodged repairs covered by lots of underseal to hide it. Lovely.

That's none too pretty
Restorers worst nightmare is earlier bodged repairs.
Years ago I had an R5 and that had 'repairs' consisting of some kind of mastic material that had set into a concrete like mess

It seems I've chosen the right place to fix it though.

The probability is getting higher that the Skoda will have to be sold to pay for the Audi's bodywork.

Yeah, I thought it looked like they were doing a really good job.
Certainly emphasises the necessity for  full body protection

Doesn't appear to have been much  holding it together.
Bit of disappointment I guess when things are things look this bad but it will all be worth it when you are driving down the road in a pristine rebuilt car with smile from ear to ear

It does. Factory one was twin outlets. It has some holes in it so Will need repair, maybe replacement.
I'd love to get a Miltek but they're not cheap.

Ooops, just bid on Ebay on a set of the Azev 5 spokes and realised afterwards they were 18s. Correct offset and bolt pattern etc but, er, oops.
Currently leading too.
