Thanks, have been browsing some of that one! Managed half an hour with the car this weekend before my 4 year-old daughter's helping stressed me out too much!

Rob, this website might be useful to you:

http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/

That's the best English language site I'm aware off. Sadly Phil passed away a few years ago but his family have allowed his site to stay up and it will probably be around for many years to come.

I've had a few opportunities to start stripping out the car this week.

Looks like both sides of the boot have had holes cut out and patched.

Holes from towbar!

The underside looks alright

Still can't believe I have a Quattro in my garage :D

I got the sunroof working. Very happy about that as it was jammed and I was worried.

Got to love the unevenly sized holes cut out for the 6x9s in the parcel shelf.

And finally for now, some pics of the wiring. This will be fun...

The headlights have been re-wired with fatter cables

Under dash spaghetti

Towbar wiring attached with scotch locks and not routed through the floor. One less hole I guess!

Removed audio stuff

What appears to be a spare ECU in the boot

Bahaha :D
I wonder if I know what I'm doing.

You'll know once you go to start it, haha.
Bought not built.

Strange how cats are interested in car rebuilds...................I had one that used to wander around  inside and find some comfortable fold in the floor pan to lie in while I was working on it

Its not as bad as I thought it was going to be body wise. You should see some of the rust guys deal with on the UK based GolfMk1 forum.

Im not sure about that ECU. Being a K-Jet would it have an ECU like that? I would have thought it wouldnt have an ECU just like a Mk1 or Mk2 GTI.

Yeah I'm a bit more reassured after having a good poke around. We'll see what's under the carpets soon once I get some more trim out of the way.

Not sure on the ECU - I haven't even looked it the part numbers on it yet :D
Will get to that.

They have an ecu to control timing. Later ones have boost control and fuel enrichment control

An ECU like in Robs photo? Are you talking WR's?
I know that MB's and RR's have ECU's.

Too funny Rob,

I had the same key ring "bought from Continental Car Service Audi" as per your picture on the same key.

Was there a dynalink car alarm still operating in the UR, i have a whole heap of photo's from when I owned her so will put few up soon

Cheers

Rob

RobClubley

My keyring came from Ebay :D

The pics would be awesome, thanks. There are some mysterious wires and boxes which I assumed were an aftermarket alarm.

I had a spare hour today so I finished pulling out the carpets. It looks mostly okay apart from the front bit that was still wet and obviously has been leaking somewhere.
