It's going to be a mission :D

I had a bit of time to start stripping the GT today.

Very happy at how good the condition of the rear shelf is. Mine is a bit munted.
Sunroof seal looks good. Hoping that has saved me a few hundred bucks.

I'm after rear lights, you dont want to sell?

RobClubley

The passenger window is complete, drivers one has no motor. But passenger one in the Ur is the dodgiest.

I only have passenger side rear light which I may be willing to part with :D It's a bit sun faded but complete I think. Haven't removed it yet to confirm.

Just found this:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3723622-Audi-quattro-color-codes
So my chassis number has the following paint code:
Montego Black Metallic, LY9V, L3

If I'm not mistaken you own #FA900600.  This would make it an '85 model year quattro in graphite metallic LB7V, WB.

Did you note Factory data label normally located under the trim of the boot lid this will confirm the colour and trim option amongst other build spec. An identical label should have been placed in the inside cover of the original service schedule if it was supplied. Often dealers discarded the schedules of import cars to prevent NZ owners identifying past owners.

That is the right chassis number but according to the data in that link it's Montego Black.
Graphite Metallic is more of a dark grey as far as I can see from pictures I've found online.

There's no label and I have no paperwork. Apparently it had a rear end shunt at some point - looks like it may have had a new boot lid, or the label was removed.

Are we talking about the same link Rob, Montego black is not listed in the 1985 model year range 85FA900001 - 85FA901500 incorporating your Vin.

Actually you're right. I'm looking at the 1984b list. I think it must have been manufactured late 84 as it's definitely black not dark grey.

Sounds like a plan.
You got a timeline Rob?

Not sure on timeline. It's booked in for rust and paintwork this month (still thinking about how exactly to pay for that) but after that I want to take my time rebuilding it properly. I'm hoping no more than a year, I'd like it to be less, but costs will be a factor especially as the Mrs is working part time at the moment.
I need to be careful not to get distracted with anything non-essential on the road to getting it warranted and driveable.

The Passenger rear light is what I'm after so just PM me price if you wanna sell.

Not sure where I found this info but the notes I made before I bought the car are that FA900600 was made between 31/12/84 and 31/01/85 and the engine WR 004829 in the car was built on 30/11/83!  All the colour info I can see says Montego also but not say it's right.
W.

RobClubley

Cool, good info.

Well put it this way - after the rust is done and it's painted it will definitely be Montego Black :D
