As I've said before, do what gives you joy. It's your car Rob. It will look great.

I agree.

Rusty is home :)

Paying the bill hurt, but now the fun part begins.

Excellent! Now, what's next?

Yeah, have  you worked out a plan of attack?

Excellent! Now, what's next?

I've been wandering around the car this afternoon trying to work out what do do first. So I started re-assembling the rear end. Need to remove the lights and seal them properly.

You don't hang about!

Whilst you have all the internal access available, I would shoot some protective oil into the channels/blind panels/hollows.  POR15 do one called SW2 or there is the Wurth one that has the long hose applicator.

dubstar is correct, get sum rust proofing into it NOW! Gold Seal is pretty good. But what ever you use do it now. If you have a compressor find a panel shop that uses Gold Seal, see if you can buy about 4 litres and borrow the applicator gun. The applicator has a long nylon tube to get right in cavities.

Seems like great advice. Your chassis has already proved it's not galvanised....

I have some protective stuff, I'll definitely spray some in the crevices.

I didn't get as much time as I wanted to on my day off work today, but I got the door handles re-fitted, makes it a lot easier to get in now.  :D Of course it took ages, I couldn't get the first one working properly, until I realised a small but critical bit was missing, so I had to dig out the spare one from the GT, then it was all good.

I had to remove the front bumper to re-fit the fog lights and indicators.

It took ages to get it re-fitted and it was too dark to take a decent pic.

There are cat paw prints on it already, grr.

Also I need to work out how to get all this sticky stuff off. I wish I'd thought about it when the window was out.

To remove the high stop sticker you could try Prepsol or maybe the citrus based De-Sol-It, may have to let it soak to soften.

I have some De-Solv-It. I'm a bit concerned about damaging the heated rear window. I suspect it will take some time and patience to remove.

If its on the glass, you just need acetone (borrow your wifes nail varnish remover!) and don't get it on the paint...
Otherwise I have removed stubborn stickers in the past using a razorblade/Stanley knife blade, but as you say need to be careful around the RWH

Re-fitted the front lights. Mostly because it's nicer to look at. They'll have to come out again to sort the wiring out. There are spare wires too.

The grey bulb holder on the other light disintegrated so I need to find a new one.

Hmm, part number is 855941669, which looks like this:

So the one I have isn't original. I wonder what it's from.
