John Stone, any thoughts on when you might do your run to Wellington?

John Stone

Have no set timeframe at the moment - we are getting to the time of year where the weather is unsettled and even though the quattro will drive up a ski jump (apparently) I'm thinking August/September could be a go. One issue that really needs to be fixed is getting the wiper motor renovated ::)

No snow on skijumps at the moment anyway, but wipers definitely needed. Asking as I want to book my car in to get the cambelt and hydraulic lifters done, plus several other bits and bizzos, which Qualitat advise can be next week. If you were thinking to go next week I'd delay to join the run 😊

I got the passenger side locking actuator in. Went to do the driver's side one and the part that connects the lock to the mechanism was missing. No idea where I put it, so I pulled one out of the GT spare door, but it was a bit rusty.
So I made a replacement out of one of the spare bits from the locking kit. It took a few more revisions before it worked.

Wow, look at this wreck, sold for over GBP 8 grand!

My non-wreck now has the central locking actuators all wired and fitted. Then I distracted myself from the wiring by re-fitting some of the external trim, then swearing copiously at the rear window trims.
No matter how much lube I used I could only get the stiff rod halfway into the crevice.

Sorry.

A bit of scrubbing with CarPro interior cleaner and the C pillar trims were ready to re-fit.

A bit more work needed to get them right, and those seatbelts look rough, must see what I can do with them

Got one of the sunroof drains in too.

After nearly three hours of mucking about I got the other sunroof drain in place. I used a coathanger to get a small string in there, used that to pull through a rope, then used that to pull the pipe.
It looks a bit squished on the photo, will check that out.
I'm just about ready to get the head liner installed now, then the sunroof can go in.
