Thanks. Looks like a set of Konis will be about $1500 landed from the place in Leeds, UK. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
Just need to hang on until the wife starts back at work in Feb.

Have you tried the US?

About the same from ECS, but their set of four lists all rears for some reason. The look the same but part numbers are different so I assume the fronts are stiffer to cope with engine weight.

Try Shox.com and enter Bilstein when you get to the option for coupe quattro - you then see the option for WR/MB

I bought a set in 20004 and including shipping came to about US$640.00.

That's a fair bit of rust from one corner's suspension.

Front subframe is off.
I was kinda hoping the GT subframe might be the same as it's in a bit better condition, but as that was a a KV engine car with an auto, the gearbox mounts are different.

Rob I'd cut the mounts off the other frame and swap them over if the other frame is in better nick.

Starting to clean up the subframe and remove the old bushes. Two just popped out. Two were rusted in and took some time. and "persuasion".
Lots more cleaning to do but it's actually in decent condition under all the gunk and oily mess.

Jeepers can't believe how trashed all those things are, that will make a HUGE difference to that car.

I've been doing a bit of online shopping. New lower ball joints, drop links, wheel bearings, gearbox mounts (034 street density performance ones) are on the way.
Shocks will be ordered when I'm a bit closer to needing them. Need to try and spread out my spending :D
And a short shifter kit accidentally fell into my 034 Motorsports basket. On back order though so no idea on ETA.
The dubious milestone of $30k total spend has been passed.
Relatives land in NZ tomorrow, so there probably won't be much progress until Feb.

Takas (slowburn) dropped these off, thanks mate. I don't want the car too low so I'll fit them and see how she sits. Hard to tell when they're not compressed but out of the car they don't look too much lower.

I visited that lovely quattro in Oamaru.

Pipe benders for the brake lines, rear ball joints, suspension dust covers. Need to order shocks soon.

Gearbox mounts and a short shifter kit

Ball joints

And I finally got the rear struts out. So many rusty parts to separate...

They had the right part number but...

Also the ball joints I bought - again supposedly right part number but the top shaft is 1mm smaller. Dammit.

I think these mounts were a bit worn.

Something's missing here.
I was about to change the engine mount until I realised I can't find any of my 17mm sockets. Time to tidy the garage.

You would have been better off just ordering the entire car in kit form. I looks like you have to replace just about the every single part.
