Car loaded up to take some stuff to The Toy Shop Wellington tomorrow for some assistance with things like wheel bearings.
The timing of the shocks arriving was spot on!

The Toy Shop Wellington are doing a great job on my struts, having to use some creative methods to get them apart after the wheel bearing refused to shift with 10 tonnes of pressure.
It appears I supplied two correct wheel bearings and two wrong ones. Doh. They're sorting some correct ones out for me.

I always find that a bit frightening, especially if standing nearby

10 tonnes is surely plenty although I've had to go to 12 or so once on a bearing.  Always makes you jump when it finally lets go.

As an aside I have Bilsteins on the A4 (ex TWoTV) and theyre wonderful.  That's since you drove it FFS...

FFS

I loved my drive in your A4 Steve, I could live with one easily, and every now and then still have a hunt on Trademe after that.

Grab that Le Mans in Taupo!  Overpriced though I think, needs a bit of tidying up...

FFS

Good thought, but I have a full complement of vehicles now!

RobClubley

Looking forward to seeing these completed, they look excellent.

I use a 30t press. Never had a bearing that I couldn't press out

Got the brake hard lines out from each corner. The front to back one is okay but the connections to the flexis were all rusted and rounded and I had to saw them off.

I've nearly got everything removed now, I need to start putting things back on!
Rear subframe still needs removing, need to buy bushes for it as I only ordered enough for one subframe for some reason!
I moved my jack stands and had to set them higher, then the car felt a bit wobblier than I liked so I moved them back and decided to find a better way to support it. I'm sure it would be fine but I like to make sure it's rock solid before I get under there.

Rob find a set of big wooden blocks - I use what I think was a post from a highway guardrail I found years ago.  Might even be worth going to a post yard to see whats available.  They feel a lot more secure than fully extended stands.  Either that or just have one end of the car raised.

I think I still have some macrocarpa sleeper offcuts somewhere.

First attempt at making a brake hard line. The pipe flaring tool worked well.

Sometimes it's worth paying people that already have all the specialised tools to just get it done.
Daily Driver - VW Touareg V8 TDI 2012 "towing beast"
Too Many Cars - Lotus Elise S 2013 "tangerine dream"
Project Car - Golf VR6 Turbo "built not bought"
Wifes - Audi S4 Avant 2012 "I want a white car that sounds nice"

RobClubley

Agreed. There's no way I could have got it all apart with the tools I have.

I think I see a glimmer.
Trouble is every time I go over a join in the tracks it adds $500 to the amount I've spent :D
