I've been putting it off, but it's time to try and sort out the voice unit.

These should not have been connected. They were!
If connected they bypass/disable the voice unit.

Some #$%^#% has pulled out the pin for the speaker.

Test rig. Nothing happening.

Looking less complete than it was. Hmph.

Yes! Third time lucky I got a second-hand regulator from the UK that works.

Audio thingy has arrived.

The courier tried to kill it by leaving it in a puddle in our mail box.

Pretty sure that's not the factory connection for the throttle cable.

This is the view of the throttle linkage is from passenger footwell correct.?

Appears the rubber bush has disintegrated hence the cable tie.

I don't think this rubber bush is not longer available.

Classic Quattros have them in the UK.

Bit more expensive than Ebay ones but they'll be the right part. I've had enough of buying parts that aren't quite right :D

Started on the Out of Sight Audio install. Then realised my battery was flat, too much playing with stuff without running the engine to charge the battery.

Finally got these so I was able to get the rear speakers in properly and add the insulating cover to the battery live terminal.

And the Out of Sight Audio is working! Still waiting on a couple of wires for the tape deck, and my front speakers next week. Then just need to re-bleed the brakes and it's WOF time.

My front speakers have arrived. There's something very exciting about shiny new speakers.

Started on the install. I used my original speakers to mount the tweeters which already had holes drilled in them from a previous install. Not happy with it like this though, especially the passenger side.

Yes they do. Though they should be screwed in from underneath :D
I have two sets - one with the holes drilled in them and one perfect set. I thought I'd try it this way first. I like the idea of the raised base directing the sound towards the passenger compartment.

I think they sound good - but my Bluetooth thing is making a very annoying high-pitched buzzing which I need to sort out.
Tape deck appears to be non-functional :(

Oh yeah! So looking forward to it!

So in today's news.. Patricia talked to me!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AahImc-viUc

But then refused to talk again, dammit.

Got my throttle link bushes.

And the dash is all back together.

Bleeding the brakes again. Found two slow leaks on the right side of the car - might explain the squashy pedal.

Went for a drive around the block. Nothing fell off. Nobody died. Though there were some interesting suspension clunks when entering the angled drive. And the speedo worked for a second then read zero the whole time. Brakes were not great but improving as I went, so starting to bed in I guess. It was very loud! The wife said she heard the whole thing from inside the house.
