Argh damn cats! One snuck in and got locked in the garage for 24 hours. Again. Looks like she spent the whole time going under the house on the muck, then walking on and sleeping on my bonnet and roof.

I have to agree with VW'n. I have owned my '88 MK2 Golf for 22 years and up until 4 years ago it was a daily driver. It only let me down once, the hall unit in the distributor failed and thankfully it was when I tried to back out of the garage. Yes, I have had to do ongoing maintenance but this is expected of an old vehicle.

same, the cq has only let me down twice in 10 years, the same problem twice...fuel pump relay crapped out as the fuse box got wet....swapped it for a good one....never happened again....take her anywhere and be happy i did.

Have you topped off the tank so you can take the long way home?

Good idea :D I like your optimism.
That reminds me I haven't looked into the issue where it was really hard to get fuel into the tank. Getting 90 litres in will takes ages at the rate I was filling it last time.

New problems have arisen. The brake lights thing is new. Dodgy earth maybe. Water in headlight must be from it being jet washed. Brakes - will bleed them again and see.

New HT leads arrived today.

It may have failed its WoF again, but it looked awesome doing it  The drive home was great, nice and smooth and pleasant to drive.

Well, look at the positive,  at least they can only do a recheck on the failed issues if you go back in the next few weeks.

I'm still deciding whether or not I like these. I think I do, they're something different. Will fit them and see how I feel about them later as they're easy to remove.
