I've asked for a price to change gearbox and rear diff fluids while it's there. I don't fancy doing those without a hoist.
I have changed the gearbox fluid with the car up on jackstands and me rolling around on the floor before, the floor was well swept before I did it though. A hoist would have been better but needs must.

Small update - the calipers are good, but seals on the master cylinder were not so good so they're replacing them. Waiting on them coming in from overseas.
But they're still not sure if that's what the main issue is.
Hoping it's nothing to do with the ABS pump as that sounds expensive.

Two years ago vs. now. Progress has been made.

Toyshop Wellington are rebuilding the brake master cylinder and doing the front calipers too to make sure everything is good.

Hopefully this should bring this finally to fruition .
It has been quite a trial, one way or another, but persistance will pay off in the end.

Persistence, time and money :D
It'll be worth it!
Taking the wife's car to Toy Shop for a service tomorrow, so I'll hopefully get a Rusty update too.

How come when you had the car like that 2 years ago,

you didn't see or do anything about the rust underneath ?

Exactly what I wanted to know. They were supposed to sort it all but somehow missed that bit. Not sure how as they fixed the same spot at the other side.

Brakes will be going back together later today, with the re-sleeved master cylinder, refurbed front calipers and correct front discs. Hopefully that will mean the brakes issues are solved.

Despite our best efforts to get the right part, they were 4mm different in size. Too small I think!
So the pads weren't making full contact.
It seems my car is '85 registered, '84 build but with '86 calipers.

They have it all back together but the brakes still aren't right. They'll get back onto it Monday and bleed the system again, and if they can't get it to bleed they'll be removing the ABS pump for checking.
