sweet,that looks good,easy to find?

I bought it through Speed.co.nz. About $45 more than Ebay but it's nice to buy local where you can.

:D

So, my brakes again. I have an intermittent issue under light braking where the pedal is hard and the car pulls left, then right with minimal actual braking. Come off the brake and back on and it brakes normally.
Obviously this is a little disconcerting when braking is needed.

WEEU have bled the brakes and power steering again, no air was apparent in either system. They've suggested that the front/rear proportioning valve could be at fault.
According to my diagrams it's part 803 612 303 which is about $500 here in NZ.

Oh and my ABS doesn't appear to be functioning either. Sigh.
If $500 is a bit steep for the proportioning valve you can use these WD direct replacement ones. It'll be about NZ$330 landed.

I've ordered one from FCP Euro in the States - $313 delivered via UPS. Hope it helps and isn't just a $300 shinier part!

Make sure the starter is 100% the correct one .Any other may knock off the timing pin on the flywheel and then you really will have a starting problem!

RobClubley

New starter is in!

I thought I'd cracked it after about 15-20 successful starts in a row.

Then I went for a drive, and as soon as the car was hot, the issue returned. Sigh.

At least I got some nice sunny day photos.

Well, that's blown my theory, but by the look of the old one, the replacement starter won't go astray.
If the solenoid is clicking in every time and the starter is dead then it gets back to the thorny problem of good earths I guess.

Have  you tried just hooking up another battery directly to the starter to see if it turns over when it's hot.
I'd also look at heat wrapping that bit of exhaust that is right next to the starter. You might just be getting the thing a bit too hot.

This but you could just use the battery in the car.
When it happens does it make a click or just totally dead?

I have bought a heat shield to wrap around the starter to keep it cooler.

When the issue happens it clicks and I've realised you can turn the key back very slightly and on again, and it clicks each time, and after 3-6 clicks always fires.

I'd rather wrap the exhaust and leave the starter. If you wrap/heat shield the starter it may not be able to dissipate it's own heat.

I'd convinced myself it wasn't the switch but it's worth a shot after replacing so much stuff.
I dropped it off at WEEU this morning for the brake valve doing and after I pulled up and turned it off, it refused to start in the workshop, we ended up pushing it into the back. Sigh.

Or maybe you have a voltage drop to the starter.

That's likely as putting a booster on, or jumping it to another battery seems to make it work. Problem is it's so completely random and 90% of the time it starts fine.
