Went for a little drive in the sun. Got caught in a huge thunderstorm on the way back. The urq wipers are not that great!

On the Mk1, I replaced the Mk1 wiper motor with a Mk3 wiper motor.  It was quite easy, just had to match up the wires (same colours between the 2 cars, but each did a different thing) and set the parking location.

Having a look at the parts catalog, the Quattro motor looks similar/identical to the golf motor

Went to Coffee and Cars at Southward today. Speedo stopped working on the way back. Must get onto that jobs list instead of just driving the car around :D

Just enjoy driving it for a while then you can add to the list and do more at once lol. The driving is the best part surely? Speedo needed for next wof tho. If it's the plastic gear they were hard to get for the 200s.
The end is nigh, but the end of what is the question?

That's why I haven't got around to doing the head gasket, I'm reluctant to take it off the road at the moment. I just can't drive it on long trips.
The speedo issue is my wiring which I never went back and did properly.

But it looks so cool!
I was doing 100 and it suddenly went to 48, then zero, and stayed at zero. It's wiring from the sensor which I did a temporary job on and never went back and did properly.

Speedo fixed - the connector on one of the wires had come apart. Have squished it a bit with the crimp tool for a tighter fit and wrapped a load of electrical tape around it as a further temporary fix. I will do it properly with a decent connector!

Can't resist sharing these Facebook memories. Three years ago Just Rust were getting stuck into welding up and repairing the holes in Rusty's bodywork.

This is a useful thing. Makes it so much easier to turn off the car's power.

Finally started pulling things out to do the head gasket. I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing :)

Yep. Been there done that. Did the valve stem seals, cam belt, engine mounts and a turbo kit as well because I was in there. It was  harder reading about it than actually doing it. All in the mind. All it took was time.

Yeah especially as it has only done about 2,500 miles.

Getting there! Ran out of time, next step is to remove the head bolts. Gulp...

I guess I should get the turbo reconditioned while it's out :D Any recommendations?

I'd definitely rebuild that, I'd recommend Steve Murch but he's not usually so fast as he seems swamped most times.
