My '94 S6 uses oil. It doesn't smoke unless perhaps under high boost but normal driving nothing to notice. It is the turbo, as the ducting beyond the turbo is all oily including pooled oil in the Michelin man hose.

What are my options for the turbo?

Been restoring a classic launch for the last year and a half, NOT KEEN to go for an expensive option for my measly turbo.

Cheers guys

I have noticed this problem in my S6 over the last 4 months also. Having the same symptoms as you are  ???

-Using oil
-Grey smoke for a few seconds after hard boost
-Oil in the intercooler pipes

Doesn't smoke on start up, only what appears to be a little condensation build up as is definitely water.. Doesn't smoke from normal driving as far as I know.

Could it be valve stems or turbo oil seals?

PCV valve has been replaced.

I kind had this issue with the RS2 a few years ago. I thought it was the turbo but also got the valve guides done at the same time. Turns out it was the valve guides. Once this was done it didnt use any oil.

Although valve guides wouldnt go through the Michelin man hose and turbo outlet like mine....

Fingers crossed sorted, fitted a recon'd S2 turbo from Anton (cheers!). Can't induce smoke now, no other changes or increases in drivability.

Unsure if I will keep it or not, I still need a nice diesel 4wd- the Audi isn't the best for lugging boat gear
