Hi chaps heard that I can use another gearbox for a vr6 provided the bell housing is vr6. I understand that certain boxes ratios would not be suitable. Had anyone done this before? Which box would best suit and what other components would be needed? Have a brother in law whose auto just gave up the ghost. Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated.

Assuming you can get a box with the right ratios, changing the bell housing in the case of the VR6 means pretty much taking the box apart (correct me if I am wrong)
Nevertheless, I am following this...
1996 Volswagen Vento VR6 - Toy
1998 Audi A3 1.8T - Daily
2005 Volkswagen Touran 2.0FSI - Family

V5 manual is a great swap, I sold one a few months back, he's selling the whole car now, but he loves it! Only thing is V5 manuals aren't very easy to find
Volkswagen Jetta CL
Audi A4 Avant Wagon
Volkswagen mk3 Cabrio
Kombi truck... in my dreams :-)

Hold on, ratio's aren't quite right on the V5... They scream at 100km/h
There is one on Trademe and it is an easy swap.
