Leon SC (3 door) Cupra? The Leon Cupra range now has 300hp through the front wheels. AWD is optional on the ST (wagon) only. I do hope they bring the 3 door here, but we're more likely to see the 5 door and ST (wagon).

The SEAT NZ website is now live: www.seat.co.nz

Initial model range is Leon, Leon Cupra and Ateca. Leon models look to be 5-door only. I guess the Ibiza will follow when the new model comes out later this year?

They also recently re-launched the SEAT brand in Singapore, but with a few more models in the range: www.seat.sg

I guess it's a work in progress as they finalise trim levels and pricing etc. Still nothing on the dealer location also.

So sportier sub brand. Probably to be sold alongside existing vw dealers. What's the point of difference, are they cheaper than vw overseas?

They are cheaper than the comparative VW model and some would say sportier vibe.

So in a loose heirarchy of prices:

Audi
VW
Skoda
Seat

I notice that the Ibiza is now on the website as coming later this year as well.

My guess is that the dealership will be at that site on the corner of Market Rd and Great South Rd where Skoda started out, seems logical at least.

insane

My brother has a Seat Leon FR in SA, I quite like the look and prefer the look of the older models, although all their interiors old and new are very very basic.

Drives great too

seems a little short sighted having only one dealer ?

Maybe just a feeler to gauge interest

The guy who is launching SEAT was try same who reintroduced Skoda in the 2000s. I think he's following the same model, or at least working off the back of that experience. Establish in Auckland, then other main centres.

Auckland, 13/06/2017 ? SEAT New Zealand is excited to announce further details on
the new Leon range that will be available.

The Leon range will feature two variants of the 5-door hatchback: the Leon FR and the
Leon CUPRA.

Both models feature key technologies to keep owners safe and connected. The Leon is
rated 5-stars by EuroNCAP and includes items such as front assist with City Emergency
Braking and a rear view camera. SEAT Full Link is standard on all SEAT models being
sold in New Zealand and features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.

A CUPRA (an acronym for CUP RACER) is the best example of the perfect balance
between emotion and reason. The Leon CUPRA is powered by a 221Kw / 300hp turbo
petrol engine (2.0 litre). It will be available with a 6-speed DSG gearbox or a 6-speed
manual gearbox (priced from $56,900 and $55,400 + on road costs respectively). A
torque-sensing limited-slip differential and Dynamic Chassis Control assist the CUPRA
to get all the power and torque onto the road via the front wheels. Adaptive cruise
control featuring pedestrian protection adds even more safety and convenience.

The Leon FR is powered by a 110kW / 150hp turbo-petrol engine (1.4 litre) and is
priced from $35,900 + on road costs. The FR specification is SEAT?s ?sport? version
featuring 17? dynamic alloys, a body kit and a sports orientated interior including seats
and steering wheel.

James Yates, SEAT New Zealand General Manager, commented that ?the new Leon
range enhances the dynamic nature of the SEAT brand offering slick, modern design
inside and out. We believe that we have very competitive models and they will be very
attractive to consumers looking for either a warm-hatch or a (very) hot hatch.?

The Leon CUPRA will be available for sale in September this year with the FR arriving
early in 2018.

Wow that pricing is aggressive, I was picking the Cupra to be closer to $60,000.   I'm struggling to think of any other new car with so much bang for buck.
