I have just purchased a Jap Import 2011 B8 with the Audi MMI system, and the Media center setup. I have managed to pair my phone, and after installing a band expander I now get more than Mai FM. However, I cannot get my i-Pod to connect. there is a cord in the glove box which has a i-Pod compatible USB attachment, however when connected nothing happens. Am I a complete muppet and missing something in the interface, or do I need to get work done?

If its anything like the VW MDI system, it has problems indexing iphones due to the size of the internal HD.

I have found, if I want to use the MDI connection, i'll have to use an older iphone 4 or ipod shuffle to play music.

It should work.  I had an older iphone 4 (with the 30 pin connector) and it was able to read the playlists and tracks off the device.  And if I used spotify I could start playback via the phone and it would play.

I've since replaced that with a ami to bluetooth adapter (Viseeo Tune2Air wma3000 - with the Audio AMI plug) and it works much better (especially as new phones are lightning).

You can also get a ami to 3.5mm cable - which you may prefer.
