Rs4 B5 GmbH options
« on: March 10, 2017, 07:57:26 pm »
Came across this 2001 GmbH options list. Add GmbH brakes, exhaust system, alcantara wheel and gearknob, mats, sunroof and armrest to the NZ RS4's list of $159,900 and you'd be looking at c $170,000. Not spare-change in 2001!

I bought one of those brochures off eBay. Yep not cheap. And I think the RS2 retailed for $180k back in the 90s.

I purchased the gmbh suspension for my nogo b5 rs4 when it was circa 2 years old.
Was a good decision.

Just train spotting sorry
Suede leather steering wheel. Alcantra looks similar but is actually a man made material.  :police:

from wiki;

Alcantara is composed of about 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane, giving increased durability and stain resistance. The appearance and tactile feel of the material is similar to that of suede, and it may be incorrectly identified as such.

My B5 has the alcantara roof, steering wheel and gear knob. The suspension looks like the ducks nuts but wouldn't a bilstein set up be just as good?

I still have the original bill of sale for my B5 RS4, only options mentioned were sun roof and carbon trim and the total was $162,400
Doesn't mention the armrest which it has, or the full leather. Was full leather a cost option over the "gardening gloves" fabric/leather?
I guess the sticker in the wheel well de-codes all the details of spec?

Yes the sticker has all the option codes (many of which may be std NZ/RS4 spec). Regarding the seats, full leather was the standard trim. Not sure if hi-tech (party material/part leathery) was extra but I'm sure the alcantara would have been a cost option.
