Went to check then oil level in the new addition to the stable, when the last remaining bits of plastic disintegrated between my fingers. Ugh!!!

Anyone able to help? Know of a 20v V5 AZX being wrecked?

Which leads me to a question, why can't various manufacturers settle on one particular dipstick design and length for all their engines? Take simply, the common E827 design found in several generations of VAG cars, every iteration has a different dipstick. The notion of the V(R)5 simply being a V(R)6 with a cylinder shaved off, regardless of valve count (oversimplification I know) is disqualified by the part number and location of the dipstick being different.

If the dipstick is too long, install a longer funnel. Oh wait VAG have done that.....only they changed the length and shape of the dipstick anyway. ???

sad to say the dipstick is going the way of manual gearboxes and mechanical handbrakes.

many new cars (audi, bmw, mercedes) don't have one.
