Hi guys,

I have a 2006 MK5 GTI with the AXX 2.0 TFSI engine. I've been doing some research on the AXX motor, and there are some that consider that the newer (2006 - 2009) MK5 GTI BWA motor to have more power than the AXX (AXX at 147kw and BWA at 162kw). I know that there are some slight differences such as difference in compression, piston design, camshaft etc. but is there any real world truth in terms of a power difference? Or are the AXX and BWA exactly the same in terms of power?

Also, assuming there are differences - if I went Stage 1 with the AXX then should the power be exactly the same as a Stage 1 BWA?

Cheers!

In short.

I can get them both to make similar power once tuned or within 5hp. The AXX comes on quicker. The BWA does have more torque.
