Hi,
Do I need certificate if I change the front caliper on my Mk V GTI (single piston) to a R32 one?

Thanks

Officially yes.
There is very little you can do to your brakes that does not require a cert.

I guess better disc pad and line the way for me to go then.

Thanks for your help

I fitted Golf GTI front disks to my 2.0, surely that's OK with OEM parts for the same model

If it's a straight bolt on using unmodified OE parts you don't need a cert.

Are you sure about that? I remember someone getting grief for putting the Brembo calipers and rotors onto his legacy that were a direct bolt on from the "Tuned by STI" model.

is that because they changed the disc diameter?

Really, wow - OK. As always I guess the best advice is talk to a certifier first if you have any concerns. I've never had any issues running upgraded OE brakes, calipers and using OE lines and from memory there is nothing in the LVVA guidelines about it, but might be best to check with an authority on it.

Possibly.
He got pulled up about it at WOF time and ended up having to get them certed.

Agreed here. Asking the LVVA guys is probably the best course of action.

Alfashark

For Auckland, talk to Clint Field - Near the top of that list, super nice guy and I'm sure he'll appreciate the change from having to deal with flat-peakers and their bodged together Skylines etc.
