Anyone else done this?

Inspired by the 2005 TT Quattro Sport which was only sold in Europe, this wee plain-jane silver TT needed some paint to get ready for sale so I decided to make it into something different

Black mirror housings and black 17" 9-spoke S4 reps to follow yet

Are there any others kicking about in other parts of the country that have had the same treatment - I have never seen one down here in the South

Couple more pics

opinions (but please try to suppress the usual "hairdresser's car" etc hatred for the TT)?

I have a Roadster in my own collection and stick firmly to the opinion that it's a future classic

it's a bit difficult to say with the bumpers off, but provisionally I like it, highlights the greenhouse in a manner that echos AUDI concept cars of the era like the Avus

I know the Avus was all polished alloy, but the cab forward greenhouse was a strong styling element

I really like it, I think it improves the vehicle by subduing the bubble appearance.

looks like an ersatz peugeot rcz

which was an ersatz tt

;D

except it also looks like a genuine TT Quattro Sport?  ;)

We here have commented in the past that the RCZ's should all be crushed for plagiarism. "Like an ugly kid thinking a cool hairstyle will make him popular"

(and looking at this photo, isn't silver a pig of a colour to match for repairs!)

The comments so far are reassuringly positive, especially the fact that nobody yet has said they have ever seen one like it here in NZ?

the pic of the silver tt in the paint booth reminds me...

there's an orange tt mk1 in town and it looks rather nice from across the road ...

Yea, the orange looks hot - not very common. Probably a 3.2, in which case the V6 front bumper also has a lot to do with the look?

Reviving an old thread on colour combo two tone. I'm looking at buying Mk1 silver TT and doing the same thing except possibly wrapping with a decent black (satin) vinyl. Going to look at various textures and which one will work the best. Might even add a stripe along door to match roof. Silver is such a drap looking colour and I think it needs something to highlight the rest of car.

Will talk with a professional aut/sign writer for ideas and possibly a mock-up.

Ive pained for ages about putting a side decal on the Silver mk2 TT, Id say no dont do it unless you do a proper full JDM job on it (lowered springs, aftermarket wheels, body kit). focus on keeping it clean, shiney and original on the outside, spend $$ on good rubber, nice sounding exhaust system, intake, plus interior goodies that make you feel good (OSIR shifters, aluminium bits, leather care, LED light conversion, sounds, custom\premium mats etc.

If you must do a decal, then mabey something lower key like quattro in the 1/4 windows, or some quattro badges on the sills near back wheel.

Silver IMO is actually quite a classy colour for the TT, like the Delorean let the design \ style do the talking not decals and bright colours.

The main exterior mod if I buy silver Mk1 would be a black roof as shown above. The side door decal was only and idea to help tie in the rest of car to roof. Black wheels and better tyres are also on the shopping list. Doubt if anything will be done on interior as it?s pristine condition. A modern HU with USB port may be added although not essential.

In negotiations today with dealer on purchase.
