Morning all,
New to the site and wondered if anyone has thoughts on VCDS vs OBDELEVEN. I'm looking to get something to assist with my problem child. I bought the dual charged MKV golf GT tsi thinking it would be good sitting in traffic around Auckland. It has since been problem after problem. Plus I'd like to do a little coding to make her a little less standard.
Any thoughts on the subject much appreciated 👍
Cheers, Darren

I have OBDEleven and it is great.  works well and if the codes aren't described within the app, then a quick google has answered all questions.  $90 vs $300 is hard to argue as well

Cheers buddy. That was my thinking but didn't know anyone that has one. Decision made! Where did you get yours from out of interest?
Thanks again

What's the differences?

For the most part both do almost the same.
the OBDEleven is a littlew more tricky/difficult to navigate the adaption and coding channels.
Not great support yet. Only due to being such a new comer to the party.

Personally prefer VAGCOM, as I can see more information Simultaneously.
OBDEeleven have only just provided the ability to export logs as of the latest update. Which makes it soo much easier to access and read the information.

Are they updateable? coz I know many of the cheap clone cannot update the firmware/software

JaseNZ

Mine is version 12.12 and you are correct you cannot update it. You can buy the new version 17.1 for an extra $20 odd dollars but there has been nothing I have not been able to do with mine on 12.12 for my Mk6.

Not from Ross-Tech, but the cable looks genuine as far as I can tell...

Works perfectly.

+1 , have been able to do all my coding no problems what so ever. Hook it up to my surface pro and bam no problems at all. At a fraction of the cost it is well worth it.

Cool, thanks guys.

So it works with the RossTech VCDS or do you need another software?

I just got a used RossTech VAGCOM recently but this is a great deal to pass on to others!

Yes it uses Ross Tech software. Either 12.12 for the $80 version or version 17 for the $90 version.

So you guys are happy to STEAL from Ross Tech?
That is what you are doing.
Their price for the dongle pays for the software development and all the tech assist they give.
Let me know what business you are in, cause I want to steal from you since you do not have a problem with it.
