Hi everyone, a couple issues have come up recently with my car.

About 25-30% of the time, when I start her up it will stutter like it's struggling to turn over. Sometimes it's worse than others.

I've done a bit of research online and a few people said to change the spark plugs and coils so i bought a fresh pack of each....still having the problem :(

Another issue that has recently arisen is jerky DSG shifts and general acting up form the transmission.

After a cold start in the morning, it will stay in first gear until about 3k then slightly jerk into second. Jerks are a lot more noticeable when I'm going "fast" normally from 3-4th gear.

Anyway, I'm a wee bit worried at the moment but hopefully someone here can shed some light on the situation.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

What mileage on the car?

Everyone will say get it scanned so if you have, or can get access to someone, with VAGCOM do a scan and see what fault codes it's throwing.

Rough running at cold start can be carbon clogged inlet, often shows as intermittent misfire fault codes on cold start.

Cheers for the reply, the cars sitting at close to 106KM.

I don't have a VCDS, but it sounds like a good investment so I'll look into getting one.

Quick update - Started the car this morning and this time it was really quite bad so I've gone ahead and ordered myself a ross-tech VCDS to see whats happening.

Any other replies regarding what may be wrong is greatly appreciated! :)

I'm in Christchurch.

Oh man I wish I knew that before spending $400 on a VCDS!

Just kidding. I'm glad I invested in one for now, and future use.

Can you tell us more about your $10 Bluetooth scanner!
I'm guessing that you can only pull codes and not perform much else?
Where does one purchase said device?
