Afternoon all,

Has anyone had any experience with the below VAG code?

Address 03: ABS Brakes        Labels: 1K0-614-517-MK60-F.lbl
   Part No SW: 1K0 614 517 AC    HW: 1K0 614 517 AC
   Component: ESP FRONT MK60-AT   0102
   Revision: 00H14001
   Coding: 0021122
   Shop #: WSC 00046 412 00000
   VCID: 68DF5E2B5B86005E3C3-803D

1 Fault Found:
01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

Initially I thought the ESP light was on because of a dud ABS wheel sensor - however, this to me tells a different story.

Cheers in advance
Darren

haha fun job changing that one... need hands that can fold back on them selves while squeezing between the Cambelt Cover and the suspension tower.

Awesome - thanks ranton-inc I can't wait to try this one out!!

Worms

oooooh... you might find it even more annoying than that...  :-[

On a MK5 of that vintage, it's more likely that it's more major than that...

Your one will have the G201 inside the ABS module! It's almost as hard to work on, but it's also a LOT more expensive!

Oh - it's the same as the used module I have here on the shelf:

No fault code found
.

which DOES have it in the module  :(

It's a common issue and the same design is in a lot of cars - including a bunch of jap ones. I haven't prices a new repair kit in NZ (1K0698517B), but they are US$582 from ECS in the US - whiich is annoying, because I got a BMW one for the mrs car for just over NZ$400 shipped! You have to verify it works with your module, but I'm 90% it does.

Verify it, but I suspect you'll need a module! Verify correct function of the brake light switch in measuring blocks in VCDS, and make sure the pedal isn't sticking down a bit. You can also look in the ABS measuring blocks and see what G201 is reading - it should vary with pedal pressure.

The brake light switch is a hall-effect sensor mounted on the master cylinder. (Some early MK5 based cars have a switch fitted at the pedal, like early 8P audi A3's)

From Ross-Tech VCDS Wiki:

01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201): Electrical Fault in Circuit
Possible Causes

    Brake Pedal Switch (F) faulty/jammed
Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) faulty

Possible Solutions

    Check/Replace Brake Pedal Switch (F)
        See Measuring Blocks

    Check/Replace Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55) may need to replaced
        Perform Brake Pump Bleeding
Perform Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) Basic Setting
Replace Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)
