Reading Ambient Temp via OBD2
« on: September 26, 2017, 09:27:56 pm »
I've been doing a little experimentation - mainly so I can see what effect my charge cooling ends up having on my engine intake temperature.
(With the amount of heat soak I get it sits around 60 deg C around town and 50 degC on the open road. I can get pre detonation (a misfire) when it goes above 65 deg C).

Has anyone been able to read the ambient air temp using an obd2 tool (I've tried both a OBDLinkMX via wifi and a Carista OBD2 via Bluetooth- and both either can't read PID46 or are returning a 0.
I know VW don't provide all of the SAE PIDs via the OBD2 and wondered if the ambient temp is one of the ones the don't give....
