Rear pads were getting a little low, so have booked in next week to get some Bendix Euro Plus fitted all round.

I have the 3.2 with the 2 piece rotors and intend to keep the car for another 2 years and 20,000 kms. (Car currently has 130,000). In the absence of any issues Is it possible to just replace pads only ? or do the rotors needs to be machined or worse replaced ?, I have a little lip on the outer edge of about 1mm and on the inner edge feels to be around 2mm.

I can get a full set of EBC Ultimax Pads and Rotors from DemonTweeks for $850NZ shipped, vs $1500 for genuine OEM gear, and wonder if I do need new rotors do they have to be the genuine 2 piece lightweight ones ?...will handling be compromised ?

get 2-piece if you can afford it. It does certainly make a good improvement from unsprung weight but also lightens the steering along with nicer feedback also.

Sounds like it will need disc replacement - it may have the minimum thickness marked on it somewhere or it will be specified by Audi..
You should have a selection of discs available to you, if you know the mounting PCD, disc diameter and thickness, and mounting type (bolted, slotted, etc?) you can match them up. Curved vane should give better cooling, as will those with larger air gaps - the latter will also reduce unsprung weight.
These are my thoughts and opinions - sometimes I'm wrong, but not often ;-)

Front rotors were 27mm and rears were lipped as well. Pity I didnt make the call before the car was disassembled as I could have got some EBC gear from UK for about the same as im paying for Bendix Euro Plus and some bog standard discs.

Turns out i'm running single piece discs as whoever did the rotors 40,000 kms ago opted for non Audi ones.

No biggie, its just a daily, and if it stops well for my liking then all good....but some slotted fronts would have looked very nice.

Where are you looking? I just priced up some Znoelli slotted 2-piece disks and pads for my R32 (assuming same size as TT) and the price was about $800 all up

Was that for all 4 ?

TT is 340mmX30 vs 345mmX30 for R32. Couldnt find anything in Znoelli catalouge for the 3.2 TT.

not a fan of ebc pads or slotted rotors on a road car, all they do is chew up yr pads.

stick with plain rotors

add good pads, good fluid; job done.

;)

Yeah its not like I track the car....checked in this morning and the rotors are some brand called XP from an Auckland supplier, the Bendix Euro Plus seem to get good reviews, i'm sure the car will stop fine and my wallet will feel better than a visit to Audi who wanted $1500 for pads and rotors all round.

Picked up car today $1100 all up for pads, rotors and labour. Still bedding in, those Bendix Euro Plus smoke and smell a bit from the bedding in strip material.

Initial thoughts is it feels more progressive than the last setup, ie not as bitey on light braking but a smooth progression from light to hard braking....not sure if thats a good thing or not...but until bedded in I cant really judge I guess.
