Squeak on cold start MK5 GTI
« on: November 28, 2017, 01:13:08 pm »
Hi guys

Quick question, Every morning on a cold start I hear a pulsing squeak when I start driving the squeak pulses faster and disappears after a few minutes. I suspect it's the timing belt? Cars done 56kms. Any of you guys heard it or have any suggestions/advice?

Cheers

Is the pulsing consistent with the engine speed or road speed?

It could be your alternator belt or pulley or alternator bearing.
You can just take the belt off to see if it's any of those. I've replaced all three one at a time after each part failed. It was making a squeak too.

It's consistent with the engine because even when I'm stationary it squeaks when revving the engine.

Cheers Warrior I'll have a look tonight after work and see if I can find the issue just needed a idea of where to start looking.
