So, my car got parked under some trees last week and ended up with a bit of bird poo on the bonnet. Even with a fresh coat of wax on it, it has eaten into the paint in just 5 days.
This is what it looks like after having sanded it with 2000 grit, then rubbing compound and then a machine polish. It may need professional attention because I am too scared to sand it any further in case I go through the clearcoat.
All I can say is, make sure you clean that crap off

what are the flying rodents eating up there ?
that's some extra potent bird poo

:-\

it's nice to park under shady trees when its blazing hot but not nice to find it pooped on.

i keep a bottle of quick detail spray and some rags in the boot just in case.

No. Are they expensive?

about hundred bucks from Aliexpress. Not sure how accurate but at least give you an idea.

Make sure you check the depth range and increment

My wife looks after elcometer for nz and does all the repairs and calibration. Looking at $850 + gst for a gauge suitable for car paint.

Probably best to find someone else to check it. I can almost get a full stage 4 detail done at OCD at that price..

Yeh they are professional level stuff designed for daily use. Even many detailers use cheap gauges not designed for car paint thickness haha
