Wheel spacers

Anyone here using them?
I'd like my wheels to fill the guards a little better, they currently sit around 5-10mm inside, would spacers be an option?

Pros/Cons of using spacers?

Has been about 15 years since I've used them to fill a wide-bodied Mitsi Mirage so my memory of that is pretty vague.

I think technically you need a low volume vehicle cert to use them.

Correct, cert required.

Someone I know is now $20k out of pocket due to not having a cert, with a refusal to pay out from his insurer following an accident.
