This seems to be happening regularly now. A car appears at a not-unreasonable price, disappears, re-appears a little later at a jacked-up price at a dealer.

They do say "Hand Picked" for every vehicle they are selling.
Probably not that many machine picked classic cars around though.

Dutton are finding a lot of favour in melbourne, where there is definitely a premium for classics.  Good on them, but how long can the classic car bubble last?

As long as there are rare cars and money. I'm sure there are cases of people buying multiple rare cars and then destroying a few to make the ones that are left even more valuable....
It's just another form of art or antiquities. If it's rare and someone wants it, then it has value.

Since 1911 when Dutton was established in Melbourne I?m guessing...
