Where can I find 6mm hex socket 7.5 inch or longer for AAN intake manifold?

Need this for AAN intake manifold, anyone got a local source? Google search has failed me.

Repco or TradeZone. Probably TradeZone, they tend to have more serious gear. Might need to buy a set but always useful.

Any reason you can't use a simple 1/4"drive socket with a 6"extension - or a 6 and 3?
You don't say where you are, in the Auckland area I often use Waitamata Hydraulics, but any decent industrial supply store should have a decent range of options for you.
These are my thoughts and opinions - sometimes I'm wrong, but not often ;-)

Yeah as the socket doesn't fit through the hole in the intake manifold and it's very tricky / maybe not possible to get the socket onto the end of the extension after you put the extension through the hole due to the position of the head coolant manifold.

Just to clarify, is this for an internal (Allan type) or external hex bolt? Do you need the tool to be a square drive or a simple "L", or "T", handle?
There are many listings for tools for VW manifolds with a hex end, suitable for the internal hex bolts - such as
https://www.amazon.com/CTA-Tools-8541-6mm-Socket/dp/B00VX0RI3S
https://www.amazon.com/Bondhus-16468-T-Handle-ProGuard-Finish/dp/B002KAFDG4

Probably more expensive, but check with the local Snap-On or VW dealers/rep's for - https://vw.snapon.com/SpecialToolsDetail.aspx?type=Tools&itemid=30430184&PrevGroup_Name=Wrenches&PrevGroup_Id=184&groupId=1384&Group_name=Wrenches,%20Sockets,%20Screwdrivers%20&Cat_ID=1384&Cat_Name=Wrenches,%20Sockets,%20Screwdrivers

Why not buy a regular allen key and cut the ball end off the bottom and then cut it before it turns the corner at the top, then you can feed it thru the hole and then slide a same sized socket on the other end and use a ratched to help undo.

To answer your questions the last one is correct I have seen this and it is an option, but this site will only allow an address in USA or Canada so billing my cc may be an issue. I don't think we have a snapon in NZ do we? I can't find one on google.

FYI the first one will not work as the shaft is much larger than the 6mm hex head, and I don't want to pay that much + shipping.

The T handle or similar is an option and bunnings have a set of long reach allen keys that will work, but my first option is to find a socket, if I can't find it I will buy the allen key set from bunnings.

I don't have any tools to cut hardened steel  :P I already broke my vice snapping my 6mm allen key to make an ultra short version to get the manifold off. Trying to make it easy to get it back on by buying the right tool this time.

use a hack saw or a angle grinder?? not that difficult really. if your worried about bolts falling off the end of the allen key then magnetically charge it?

For getting stuff from the USA, set up a Youshop account - two reasons, it gives a US delivery address for US only purchases and free delivery, and it can be a LOT(!) cheaper fror post/freight.

Aus/NZ Snap On HQ - https://www.snapontools.com.au/ ; e-mail - [email protected] ; or New Zealand: 0800 762 766 to find a rep' in your area... which is?
Or - https://yellow.co.nz/new-zealand/snap-on-tools

TBH, I would probably just get a long T or L key, cut it off at max' length and use a 6mm socket of preferred drive. Use a dab of grease to hold the bolt on the shaft during removal/replacement.

Ah, Repco do have an extra long key set, but don't know how long - https://www.repco.co.nz/en/brands/repco/repco-9-pc-extra-long-hex-key-set-metric-rtk2440xlc/p/A1269771

Looks like that socket is the overall length, as under spec's it says 140mm

Got the T-handle from tradezone North Shore for $20, and the guy knocked down a Teng 1/4 inch torque wrench down to the price of a fuller which was on sale (46% discount), good man!

Thanks for the suggestion.

I only use Youshop if the site won't ship to NZ, generally I have not found Youshop to be much cheaper (maybe for small light weight packages it is cheaper) and I would be very cautious based on past experience.

Last year I bought two CV boot kits from two different sources at the same time from sites with very expensive international shipping, so I shipped them both to Youshop in the US. The first package arrived and was detained as dangerous goods because the package contained a packet of grease. I had to spend a lot of time emailing and phoning NZ post to get the issue sorted out. In the end I was able to convince them to remove the grease packets and send the rest but it took about a week to sort it out due to the difference in time zone. Meanwhile the second CV boot kits arrived at Youshop (which also contained grease packets), they cleared it without any issue. I received the second package before the first.

If you want cheap shipping for parts try Rockauto or FCPeuro.

I use Youshop quite a bit and their prices are high and also slow.
Recently I had two shipments from US, shipped at the same time, one direct and the other via Youshop; the Youshop shipment cost more and took 5 days longer
