VW Decides against Hybrid engines for the MK8 GTI/R

It has been widely reported that MK8 golfs would feature hybrid engines and yet very unexpected they have been postponed

The MK8 GTI/R will continue with the 2.0L Turbo EA888 engine

Some new info is also provided for the MK8

* MK8 GTI to come stock with 188kW engine and a new model, GTI-TCR with 213kW engine
* Torque is also boosted over current model, no figure mentioned. 0-100 in 5.x is promised
* MK8 GTI gets DCC (adaptive suspension as standard)
* Steering accuracy and driver feedback improvements
* More sporty look - no specifics, but VW promises the MK8 will be more aggressive looking
* Front of the car is where the biggest styling changes will be - including new large air intakes and wider wheel arches 
* Both Manual and 7 speed DSG versions to be available
* Upgraded dash is promised that is a full virtual cockpit

Likely to be unveiled in September at the Frankfurt motorshow
