Hi guys

I have a MK7 R and i went to go open the bonnet and found that the release cable has come loose so i cant open it.

Tried taking drivers wheel off and inner guard to try and manually release it but there is no room to get my hand through.

Anyone know of way to sort this out? Have read that one way is to cut open the VW emblem on the front to get to the latch to loosen the bolts....hoping to avoid this if i can.

Cheers

You should be able to jack the car up and put your arm up between engine and radiator and manually release the bonnet.
Will be a faff but ive done that before on mk4 mk5

Just spent a couple of hours trying and no luck. Im guessing with the aftermarket intercooler it has probably reduced the gap to put arm through...

The cable joiner sits above the drivers headlight maybe you can reach that instead

The only way i managed to get my scrawny arm up there from underneath was to pull the fans as well once its been jacked up...
