Hi there

Wanting to fit a towbar to my Touareg without paying what appears to be an exorbitant cost via the Dealer.   Prefer not to compromise on quality therefore want it to be connected into the car to auto disable the rear facing sensors, etc.

Any guidance on options would be most appreciated.

Kind regards

Have you tried Ackerbilt.

https://ackerbilt.co.nz/

They make them for the VW dealers. I got mine from them for my Golf and they did a great job. Nice and neat where the tow bar pokes through the bumper and massively strong.

It' is a 2014 year, imported from Australia where I had it from new.

will also look at the wreckers and oem options.  Thanks for that...

Have reached out to Ackerbilt as well.   Thank you :)

If it's anything like the rest of the vw/audi cars, you'll still need a wiring loom at around $1000 in order for the lights/stability control etc to work. I've been quoted $3K a couple of times. $1k towbar, $1k wiring loom, $1k fitting...

Before you buy a 2nd hand towbar or have one made, check with VAG to see if they well sell you the electric package. I have heard that some other brands of car dealerships well only sell the electrics as a complete tow bar package.
