What battery specs are recommended for an 08 GTI? From my online research there is a lot of variation in peoples opinions on the best CCA & Amps. For a daily driver is CCA big factor or is brand and chemical type a larger contributor to reliability? Is the added cost/weight worth it also? Thanks.

I went for high CCA and a good brand. Cheapest place I found was Mrpositive.co.nz

I?ll see if I can find a link to the one I got.

Man that's some great value for money when compared to some of the Repco/SCA batteries. Is 680CCA needed? A lot of the people online have said 500CCA is plenty and its better to save the weight/money. Thanks for the link also.

Possibly not needed, but my previous one (not a Bosch) was 550 CCA and lasted 3 years. So thought for the price I?d upgrade.
Plus I have a radar detector, phone charger and amp running 6 speakers all drawing current at start up.
I also think having your lights set to auto doesn?t help either.

I use https://www.batteryworx.co.nz/products/varta-din66-car-battery-780cca just because the bigger the better :o
I leave my dash cam running overnight and so far 3 years down the track still seems to be fine

Autostop sell Bosch batteries, much better than the NZ made crap everyone else sells.

A good brand seems to be the common consensus. After shopping around, the upgrade from "Repco" branded to Bosch etc. is very minimal with the difference being ~$50 if that.
