Hi all. I have just purchased a 2008 VW Touran with an RNS510 which only receives Japan frequencies. I would like to replace it with an RNS315. Can I buy a head unit from the UK and then get it programmed with NZ maps (and will it receive NZ frequencies?) or do I have to buy a head unit from Australia? Will this head unit when fitted work with my steering wheel controls and show the navigation instructions in the display in the centre of the instrument cluster? Thanks for any answers to these questions.

You should be able to get it recoded to NZ frequencies - not sure about maps - try a search of the forums with some key words as I'm sure it's come up before.
These are my thoughts and opinions - sometimes I'm wrong, but not often ;-)

Might just be easier to pick up a RCD330 with MIB II. Supports both Android Auto and Carplay. Available locally for around $500 or out of China for a bit less.

+1 , would be the easiest option and much better for navigation.

would a band extender not work in this scenario as well?
