Ok, weird issue, not causing problems but very curious to see what it is.

My R32 is parked on the flat in neutral with the engine off. Sitting inside as I was picking stuff off the floor I noticed a very deep thumping (sounded like it was coming from a long way off). Realised it was from me moving, coming from rear of car and amplified inside...

Got out and tried rocking car back and forth and there?s this deep thump coming from rear wheel assembly with every rock.  :-\

So not in gear so nothing connected. It it just noise from the rear differential? Presumably with engine off clutch in Haldex is disengaged so should there be a noise? Has anyone ever noticed this before? I do have a wheel bearing being replaced next week, could that be it? They?re supposed to rumble when they?re on the way out aren?t they?

best to get the mechanics to check it out when they do the wheel bearing

Hand brake on and off make any difference?

Handbrake was off didn?t try with handbrake on.

Just picking up after wheel bearing, will see if that solved it  :)

Good to know its been sorted.  :D

I now have a intermittent knocking noise coming from my R32's left front wheel area when driving in a straight line and below about 30 km/h. Installing new powerflex front sway bar bushes next week to see if that makes a difference.

I'd check ball joints when they do that job. Also link bushes.

Finally had some time yesterday to replace the R32's front sway bar bushes with powerflex ones. Nice easy job thanks to humble mechanic on youtube  :D
Test drive afterwards to the shop for milk and bread was smooth and no noises thus far.
Today is bath time for the car.
