So our golf 7.5 has a normal key fob with a fold out key, but no door locks. Everything runs on proximity. Remote was flat today, so couldn't get into the car. Am I missing something? Can you still open it somehow? I presume the remote is easy enough to open and replace the battery? Might take to carrying a spare battery....

at the back of the doorhandle is a cap.

pop cap off and there is a mechanical keyhole.

Thanks! Always wondered why there was still a key on the fob.

Looks like there's a good chance of damaging the paint or the cap however when removing.

my megane still has an exposed keyhole but it's on the left door,
