Looking to make contact with the current owner of this car Reg HLU583. I'm not on facebook anymore so cannot check out the FB vask site to ask around. Have asked the same question in the MK4 section under Red Gilltrap R32 post. Will supply my phone number in a PM.

Help please.  :)

I have spoken with the owner a few times, as I actually tuned that one I think for the previous owner.

He really did not want to sell it last year when I bumped into him. You hoping he will sell it I'm guessing?

I couldn't persuade him on a offer. Sounds like it will be on auction on TM soon as there's a lot of interested buyers for the car.

Based on the Rarity Vs the KMs, I would say it?s a 16-17k car.

That's my estimate as well. I guess we will see how the auction goes once he gets around to listing it, I'll throw in a couple of bids.  :D

Wait for the auction. You'll get it far cheaper than what he wants. If hes ballsy enough to let it run till the end, it will sell at 10-12k.

There's a few things that factor it selling so cheap

- No demand for 3 door Golfs
- No one cares about R32's apart from the few enthusiasts and GTI's can easily spank these for half the price
- It being the only red car will only help it a little.
- No one has money coming out of this pandemic
- Everyone who wanted one already have one

Like they say, its only worth what someones willing to pay for it. You'll also have the North Shore 17 years olds with trust funds saying 'You can buy 3 MK5 GTI's for that money' so they are out too.

I'll await this auction too. I hope my mouse doesn't start hitting the bid button :police:

Will probably have a reserve price set above $12k or so. I just wish he would list it soon so my bidding war can start.  :D

He might not even list it as an auction, just a listing. How much did he want?

12k is cheap for a 3-door nz new car based on the past few examples that have sold.

Prepare to pay circa $14-17k if tidy and kms aren?t horrendous.

i know of a 3-door Aussie import 002/200 for sale. It?s a bit untidy but asking price was ~$10k.

Theres a few 3 door r32's that sold for 12k eventually because no one wanted them slowmo. They were just never advertised at that price. Most of them have 140km+ nowadays and arent many that are tidy too. Its just finding one and putting in the work to make it tidy

i'd rather the Jade anthracite car! The tornado red is ok, it wasn't super tidy the last time i saw it displayed at Concours, but it does have the rare factor going for it. Deep blue pearl will always be the hero color for a MK4 R32IMHO...

Agreed, Deep blue pearl is the hero colour, thats why is more common.

Agreed on DBP being the best color. I did see a mk4 gti in anthracite that had just been machined polished and mannnnn it looked good. The pearl in it popped like crazy. It doesnt matter though. That guy is taking that car to the grave with him!

Not to toot my own horn ;D  But consider this for a moment. Tornado Red, Blue Anthracite Pearl and Indigo Blue are rare on the Mk4 R32 but are they a rare on a standard Mk4? Not so much. Where as Deep Blue Pearl may be the most common Mk4 R32 colour but it?s also exclusive the R line.

but only 1800ml/2900km and US spec  :P

the exception rather than the norm for a us r32

as someone said, most nz cars will have 140km+ and be in poor condition.
