Hi,
Car start to "Bang" into reverse / 1st gear and sometimes a knocking sound when accelerate.
So I think my Mechatornic and maybe the flywheel is in it's final leg.
Any shop that rebuild Mechtronic in Auckland?

Not sure if these guys are still in business, but I found someone who mentioned them in an old thread here while I was lurking before purchasing my own mk5 gti:

Apparently costed a mere $500 to have his mechatronics re-conditioned, though it does look like you have to send your mechatronics unit to them (they will not extract it for you). Might be worth giving them a call at least, and do post an update if you get in touch with them.
