our main family vehicle is a 2009 Mazda CX-5

It's a good crossover but a bit cramped in the second row and boot space could be better

We're thinking of a replacement in a couple of months time and we're considering VW (and maybe Audi) for this one

So either the new Tiguan (2017 onwards) or a used Touareg (2012 onwards).

Which would you say is the better of the two in terms of cabin/boot space, performance etc...

2020 CX5 ;) just kidding. We also have a CX5 and will be trying something in the Mazda range or Skoda range.

Haha. It's a very tempting car and I was eyeing a newer version but i think we need something bigger space wise

VW Tiguan
VW Touraeg
Skoda Kodiaq (engine isn't the best and DSG isn't popular among the rest of the family but seats in the second row are of a nice height)
Kia Sorento
Hyundai Santa Fe
CX-9 (this version isn't very spacious from the inside compared to the Kia. also the seats in the second row are rather low)
