Hi all,

I'm looking to by a MK6 GTi in the next couple of weeks and am just trying to figure out servicing etc once I get it. I've read some posts and it seems the most commonly recommended service workshops in Auckland are Brodie European and Qualitat. It'd be great to hear what you think/recommend for these two options or any others you think I should consider. Also looking to get a pre-purchase inspection so would be keen to hear what your thoughts are on that as well.

Cheers

Brodie are great. Will be more than happy to have a chat with you and give advice as well. They service/do any work on my car and have put my mum onto them with her B8 RS4 and she has equally good things to say.
Can't fault them.

Appreciate the heads up, I've heard about this issue before hence why I'm wanting a pre-purchase inspection with the hope that they can let me know if the car is fitted with the fixed version of the tensioner or not.

Cheers for the response, always open to more advice regarding the MK6 or just looking after a GTi in general.

Pre purchase inspection will do nothing to address this issue unless the shop doing the inspection removes the tensioner inspection plug.
If it hasn't been changed / upgraded do not buy the car unless its significantly cheaper as 1500 is roughly the cost of having the work done.
09-10-11 models are affected by this issue.
