Wheel spacer advice

Fitted some 3mm spacers to front wheels on RS5 (to give some more caliper clearance). Noticed the spacer is smaller in diameter than the wheel mounting face and hub face....by about 30mm. Consequently the outer part of wheel face isn't  flush with hub. (ie unsupported). Is this a) safe and b) normal.

It should at least match the hub mounting face, or that of the wheel - anything less is going to compromise it.

BTW, those two idiots commenting in the posted link...
These are my thoughts and opinions - sometimes I'm wrong, but not often ;-)

Thanks guys, yes I think a refund is in order from supplier,  mabey they would have been fine for oem wheel but the Vossens possibly have slightly larger faces.
