Fender and slampanel screws
« on: August 05, 2021, 12:11:08 pm »
Hi there. Has anyone had any experience with stainless 10mm 6.3x19 hex self tapping screws in lieu of the factory ones? I didn't think to send the factory ones for painting while the body and panels were getting a new leason of life in white, so thought stainless could be a nice compliment. But the size and thread pitch seems to be a bit of an anomaly in NZ. Ebay has them for a considerable shipping fee so if anyone has any local supply suggestions or experiences (good or bad) I would be most appreciative. Thanks again!

I did see that you had a fair amount of fittings rejuvinated by your local electroplater. Was this an expensive exercise? Have they lasted well?

They last fine, no different to original. A box of assorted stuff like locks, bolts etc was $100

You are right, John. The folk at Terei Brothers are super helpful. I have a container of bits there now and cannot wait to see how they look back on the car soon. Cheers for the recommendation.
