Replacing battery B8 (s5)

Recently bought a 2008 B8 s5. After few weeks the battery is dead after only 2 days not driving it. Jump started successfully, and then next day its dead again, so I guess time to replace it,.

Is this doable without coding using VDCS software, if I replace battery like for like?
I just really not wanting to take it to a mechanic to plug in (and pay to enter 1 code) when this should be a task I can complete solo. I read that the BEM code needs programming in.
