it does look very nice, I'm guessing it'll look even better in the flesh.

this new FSI stuff seems pretty special, have you seen the torque figures they are quoting:

"Maximum torque of 430 Nm comes at 5500 rpm in this very compact engine, with 90 per cent of the engine?s torque consistently available between 2250 and 7600 rpm"

I'm kind of with Rex, I still love the idea of the RS cars being a bit more mental and suitable for tuners to do silly things with and therefore it has to be turbo, they should have kept this as an S4 and maybe detuned it a bit or something?

In my opinion,it should be an S4,not an RS4!Audi RS cars have previously been turbocharged and this,I feel,is a break away from the original RS formula.

i'm with REX...!!!

I'm of the opinion it is the new S4 as the RS models tend to be done during the run out phase of a particular shape and this pic is of the new shape.

Looking closely the RS4 badges look like Photshop addons.

I like the looks of the car but agree with Rex and Scott.

Are RS cars going to turn into mass produced cars now?

I wouldn't say mass produced but certainly the exclusivity for them is no longer and they are a now just another model variant in the line up.

I wish they were still turbo!

I wounder what the RS6 has in store for us.

I was expecting the RS6 first, the new a6 has been out for a bit longer than the b7!

Looks like 1250 units a year. Article didn't make it clear whether that was just left hand drive or both.

Sort of agree about the no turbos but a V8 revving to 8250rpm whets the appetite. (Not to mention 200 km/h in 16.6 secs)

I'm sure Dahlbeck or someone will bolt a turbo on. Or two.

Big detailed article written by Audi here:

http://www.germancarfans.com/news.cfm/newsid/2050301.010

At the end (bottom of page 2) is a bit about quattro GmbH and the previous RS's - Interesting.

I reckon! Thankgod its a real manual too!

Am I the only one who likes the look of the rs6 avant much more than the sedan?

No I like the avant as well. The Avant version of this should be very nice too.

Points of comparison for the stated 16.6sec to 200km time:

NSX-R 18.2s
E46 M3 18.1s
Aston Martin Vanquish 17.4s
Audi A6 RS6 Plus 17.3s
Current Model RS4 17.0s
Ferrari 550 Maranello 14.6s
Mercedes SL55 AMG 13.7s
Lamborghini Murci?lago 11.4s!

(I got those times from various sources so may not be totally accurate.)

The original RS was an avant I guess, but Ive seen a few RS6 sedans and I fell for them all.
I don't mind the idea of sedans, but I think they should definately have avant versions also.
